FC Bayern Munich has agreed a partnership with Tsinghua University, the latest example of European sporting organisations’ expansion into China.

The German football team will collaborate with the university’s Center for Development of Sports Industry in Beijing, assisting the sports management faculty with developing its course of study.

Activities will include assigning guest lecturers, examining case studies with the Center, and assisting with events.

Rouven Kasper, who has served as managing director of Bayern Munich’s Shanghai office since it opened last year, has been appointed to the supervisory board of the faculty.

“Our work with Tsinghua University underlines our commitment to long-term and sustainable activity in China,” said Jörg Wacker, Bayern Munich’s director of internationalisation and strategy.

This is the football club’s second partnership with a university in China, with the introduction in December 2016 of an ‘FC Bayern München Scholarship’ at Tongji University in Shanghai.
