News UK history

News UK was founded as a subsidiary of News International in 1981, when Rupert Murdoch acquired Today and also Times Newspapers, using the company to preside over The Sun and The News of the World along with Times Newspapers and Today. It sold several imprints of The Times, specifically Times Higher Education, Times Educational Supplement in 2005.

Its current CEO is Rebekah Brooks, who has held the position since her re-appointment in 2015.
