Reach Regionals history
Trinity was founded in 1832, when John Hernaman and Robert Perring launched The Newcastle Journal as a weekly journal. Later, the first issue of the Daily Mirror was printed in 1903 by Alfred Harmsworth; the Mirror would later become the first mass-circulation newspaper to print in full colour.
The two companies merged 1999, forming Trinity Mirror PLC. It purchased Local World in 2015, acquiring 87 titles, an audience of 24 million digital browsers and becoming the UK’s biggest newspaper company.
In 2018 Trinity Mirror purchased the publishing assets of Northern & Shell adding the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star, Sunday Star as well as OK! magazine, New! magazine and Star magazine to its portfolio and became Reach plc.
