Brussels, 13–14 October 2026 | By invitation only

The News Media Coalition is pleased to invite you to a two-day event dedicated to safeguarding Primary Source Journalism, taking place on 13 and 14 October 2026 in the European District of Brussels.

This is the European launch of the Primary Source Journalism Framework. It brings together leading voices from journalism, policy and the wider news media sector to examine how Primary Source Journalism — trusted, access-driven, everyday quality news reporting — can flourish and continue to inform democratic societies.

The programme offers a timely opportunity to address the pressing issues facing the sector: the pursuit of truth and the role of Primary Source Journalism in upholding trust in tomorrow’s democratic societies; how public policy can enable newsgathering and support the production of quality news; the challenges of linking hard-to-get news, fair reward and AI-driven disruption; and whether it is time to re-brand press freedom in light of these dynamics.
