Amazon and Facebook to get serious about sports rights

Digital platforms are likely to enter the market for sports rights in a big way thanks to their huge built-in audiences and financial weight, according to Daniel Ives of GBH Research said.

He said the next year and a half is a “pivotal window” for tech companies to secure lucrative rights to various sports broadcasts.

Amazon and Facebook and the big players, but Twitter and Snap are “tangentially in the mix.”
