EPA Images has appointed Andrej Čukić as its new Editor-in-Chief. The appointment takes effect on 10 August 2026. It was announced from Frankfurt on 29 July 2026.
In the role, Mr Čukić will lead the agency’s global editorial operations. He will oversee its photo and video news coverage and work closely with EPA Images’ member agencies.
Julia R. Arévalo, President and CEO of EPA Images, said the agency was “delighted” to welcome him to its executive management team. She pointed to his editorial judgement and leadership, together with his experience in the field, in management and in sales. She also said his international perspective and his understanding of the needs of media clients place him well to lead the editorial team through the agency’s next phase.
Mr Čukić, 42, is a Serbian national. He has worked at EPA Images since 2011 in a series of roles of growing responsibility. Most recently he was Editorial and Sales Manager for South East Europe, where he coordinated coverage across the region and managed key client relationships.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Čukić said he looked forward to leading the editorial team as the agency continues “to deliver fast, accurate and compelling visual journalism” to audiences worldwide. He noted that much of his career has been spent in the field, working alongside photographers and editors across the agency’s international network.
Before joining EPA Images, he spent more than ten years as a photographer and then as Chief Photographer at the Serbian daily newspaper Vesti, where he ran the photo department and was responsible for editorial planning, personnel and the paper’s visual output. He also worked extensively with The Associated Press and served as an official photographer for the Serbian Volleyball Federation and FIBA Europe.
Mr Čukić holds a master’s degree in History of Art from the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Philosophy. He speaks English and Serbian, and has a working knowledge of Italian.
EPA Images was established in November 1984 by seven European news agencies and made its service available worldwide in 2003. Its photo and video services draw on a global network of visual journalists and on the daily production of its eight member agencies: ANA-MPA, ANP, ANSA, EFE, KEYSTONE-SDA, LUSA, MIT and PAP.
