Facebook has landed the rights to stream all 380 league Premier League matches Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos until 2022.
The $200m deal outbid television networks beIn Sports and Fox Sports Asia and follows on from Facebook’s failure to acquire the rights to Indian cricket last year.
It will expand on Facebook’s sports broadcasting assets which currently include Major League Baseball, College Basketball and occasional Champions League football games in the US in a partnership with Fox Sports.
The English Premier League recently reached a similar agreement with Amazon, which will be licensed to broadcast 20 live matches from the 2019/20 season in the UK.
