A new deal between boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and streaming service DAZN is said to be worth $33m a fight.
ESPN has described Canelo as the “the richest athlete contract in sports history” for his deal which is worth $365 million for 11 fights.
The deal is interesting as it signals a shift away from more traditional pay-per-view deals for boxing matches, and is being seen as an aggressive first step towards a new subscription-based model.
