UK government study to understand the safety of journalists in the UK

The Society of Editors has shared with the the News Media Coalition a survey – commissioned by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport – that is asking journalists in the UK  to share their experiences of online abuse, physical threats and harm in an online survey with research to be used by the government to improve protections.

In order to improve journalists’ safety, the survey wants to hear from journalists who have and those who have not encountered threats – both online and offline.

All information provided will be treated confidentially, and the results will be published in a way that will ensure that individuals and the organisations they work for will remain anonymous. The survey will take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete.
