The BBC has renewed its deal allowing it to broadcast English Premier League highlights up to the 2021-22 season.
This means it will continue to be UK’s home for free-to-air football, with the public-service broadcaster winning the auction in what was described by the Premier League describe as an ‘open and competitive process’.
The deal cost £211.5 million and the BBC retains the broadcast rights for highlights of all 380 Premier League matches for three more seasons, featured on Match of the Day and Football Focus, as well as the midweek magazine The Premier League Show.
Next week will see the start of the auction process for the live broadcast rights for matches.
