Amidst the bidding to secure the French domestic rights for the Women’s Euros 2021 competition, matches involving the French women’s national team are set to be included among the country’s protected list of sports events.
This development comes as five French broadcasters reportedly made offers more than the €5m French public broadcaster – France Télévisions – paid to win the domestic rights for Euro 2017.
With the deadline for second-round bids, which are being organised by the CAA Eleven agency, set for 27 September, it is likely the new offers rise amid stiff competition from French broadcasters.
It should be noted that that pay-TV broadcasters who have submitted bids for EURO 2021 have done so with guarantees they will show several major games on FTA television.
