La Liga has piloted a new subscription service that would let fans watch second-tier Spanish football matches on its TV app, LaLigaTV.
If successful, the service could be expanded into markets like India and North America.
La Liga has not ruled out whether its top division matches, the rights of which are currently owned by major broadcasters, would ever be shown on its own service.
This move is the latest example of sports organisations showing live games directly to audiences and bypassing broadcasters.
