Scottish football in talks over international TV rights

Broadcasters and streaming platforms are competing for what could be the biggest TV deal in Scottish football.

Eleven Sports are in the running alongside more traditional names such as Sky and BT Sport to acquire the broadcast rights to the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).

Facebook and Amazon are also said to be potential bidders.

Eleven Sports has already bought the UK and Ireland rights to show Serie A and La Liga matches, and is hoping to add a domestic league to its offering.

The record for Scottish football rights was set by Setanta Sports a decade ago, with a yearly deal worth £31m.

SPFL executives are said to be targeting a £40m rights deal due to the increased competition this time around.
